Grid Components
Curvica constructs letters using two grid-based components: skeletal lines for readability and solid geometric shapes for a brutalist aesthetic.
Architectural Transformation
Each letter was redesigned on a grid and then rebuilt with p5.js code. This process turned every character into both a standard letter and a unique, computer-generated architectural shape.
Interaction
Dynamic Typing
When a key is pressed, the selected letter’s lines move and grow. As words are typed, letters link together, creating networks that build meaning.
Presence and Absence
When typing stops, the lines fade away, creating a rhythm of presence and absence that reflects the continuous yet fragile nature of language.
Rendering
Directional Growth
Horizontal lines expand, vertical lines rise, and diagonal lines grow in both directions at once, creating a chaotic yet organized procedural growth.
